Four Brothers 2005, movie review and synopsis

Four Brothers movie posterMark Wahlberg is, in my opinion, one of the best actors and this is because he can play in any genre – comedy, action, sci-fi or drama. I really do not remember seeing a movie with him that I can say about it that is bad, and Four Brothers 2005 makes no discordant note. I had no intention of watching it, I did not even knew about the existence of this movie, but because someone told me it’s very good and because I had nothing better to watch, I said to try it. Sure, there were room for improvement, but the movie is interesting enough to keep you as close in the front of the TV or computer, and Mark is the salt and pepper of it.

The film tells the story of four adopted brothers who return to Detroit, the town where they grew up, in order to bury their mom… and her killer! Their mother was shot in what appeared to be a simple armed robbery at a food store, but the four brothers, they too engaged in not so legal activities, are not satisfied with the version that police expose to them and begins their own investigation among local gangsters to find out the truth. Meanwhile, the four brothers, Bobby (Mark Wahlberg), Angel (Tyrese Gibson), Jeremiah (André Benjamin) and Jack (Garrett Hedlund), are living in their mother’s house and they come again close one to another.

While searching to find out what happened and why their mother was killed, they discover that it was not a random crime but the robbery was planned to cover the woman’s execution. Knocking on gangsters’ doors, they come to one of the most powerful local gangsters, Victor Sweet (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who has in his pocket the politicians and policemen. Since the police do not seem very eager to learn the truth in this case, together with his brothers, Bobby starts a war against Sweet.
