Kevin Durand joins Vikings’ season 3

Vikings LogoFor the third season of the hit series from History, „Vikings”, the producers have added new names in the cast. The most important ones are Lothaire Bluteau („The Tudors”), which will play Emperor Charles of France, a strong man who sees the battle against the Vikings as both spiritual and territorial, Kevin Durand („The Strain”) will be „The Wanderer”, a mysterious man who is not what it seems to be, Morgane Polanski („The Ghost”), the elegant, self-possessed daughter of Emperor Charles who serves as a trusted advisor too. They will join Ben Robson („Dracula: The Dark Prince”), which was previously announced and will play Kalf, the most trusted man of Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), according to a press release.

In my opinion, „Vikings” is the only TV show that can compare at this moment with „Game of Thrones” on the medieval theme. Although it has two seasons less, the impact that it had and the new names added to complete or even expand the distribution suggests to me that the producers are thinking seriously to threat the supremacy that now has the HBO production. WARNING! POSSIBLE SPOILER! I think the biggest advantage that it has „Vikings” to „Game of Thrones” is that does not kill so often the key characters and lets you attach to certain characters. For example, I like very much the couple Ragnar – Lagertha and if something would happen to they, the show would lose its whole identity.
