James Franco was digitally removed from the cover of Vanity Fair‘s annual Hollywood issue after he was accused of sexual misconduct by several woman. “We made a decision not to include James Franco on the Hollywood cover once we learned of the misconduct allegations against him,”a Vanity Fair spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

Natalie Portman Boards ‘Vox Lux’ (Variety)

Oscar winner Natalie Portman will officially join Jude Law in “Vox Lux,” Variety has learned. In addition, Bold Films, which is backing the project and helped develop the film, has joined forces with Andrew Lauren Productions to finance and produce the picture. “Vox Lux” is written and directed by Brady Corbet, an accomplished actors whose credits include “Mysterious Skin” and “Funny Games. He made his feature film directorial debut in 2015 with “The Childhood of a Leader,” a kind of portrait of a fascist as a very young man that won two awards at the Venice Film Festival.

‘The Shining’ Sequel ‘Doctor Sleep’ Sets Mike Flanagan as Director

The film will adapt King’s 2013 novel, which follows Danny Torrance, now an adult and battling alcoholism and dealing with the trauma of what happened to him as a child in a certain haunted Colorado hotel. Along the way, he’s presented with an opportunity to use the shining power he discovered in the first book in a way that can help a young girl.

Courtney B. Vance, Mary-Louise Parker to Star in FX Pilot ‘Compliance’

Courtney B. Vance and Mary-Louise Parker have been cast in the lead roles of the FX pilot “Compliance,” Variety has learned. The series is described as a half-hour comedy centered around a private equity manager (Vance) and his government-appointed compliance monitor (Parker). Sarah Burgess will write and executive produce. Scott Rudin will executive produce alongside Garrett Basch and Eli Bush, with Sam Gold serving as director and producer. Scott Rudin Productions will produce in association with FX Productions. Rudin is currently under first-look deal at Fox Networks Group.

Warren Miller, Skiing Documentary Pioneer, Dies at 93

Warren Miller, the adventure filmmaker who was one of the first make skiing movies, died at the age of 93 at his home on Orcas Island, Wash., according to a statement issued late Wednesday on his official Facebook page. A self-taught filmmaker, Miller made over 500 films that focused on his passion for the outdoors, and snow sports in particular.
