The duo are developing a project called 143, which will be set in the X-Men universe, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Bendis, who wrote various X-Men comics during his almost 20 years at Marvel, will write the script, while Miller will direct.

LeBron James to Produce ‘House Party’ Reboot for New Line (Exclusive)

As Los Angeles hosts its first NBA All-Star shindig in seven years, LeBron James is prepping a Hollywood bash of his own.
The megastar and his SpringHill Entertainment partner, Maverick Carter, are producing a new House  Party, which will revive the Kid ’n Play–fronted New Line comedy franchise that started in 1990 and was followed by sequels in 1991 and 1994. Atlanta’s Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori will pen the screenplay.

Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish will star in New Line Cinema and DC’s “The Kitchen,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Haddish’s deal is done, while McCarthy is in final negotiations for the project. Andrea Berloff will make her directorial debut with the female mob story, with a screenplay she wrote based on the 2014 comic book series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle.

The sale of the Weinstein Company was thrown into turmoil on Sunday, as the outgoing board of directors rejected a settlement offer by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman over civil rights violations.
The new buyers, led by Maria Contreras-Sweet and Ron Burkle, held an emergency meeting with management on Sunday to determine next steps, as the sale had been expected to close this weekend. The standoff occurred because the Weinstein Company board rejected a settlement offer on Wednesday that potentially left them open to liability over sexual harassment claims against the company, according to an individual with knowledge of the talks.

James Franco Will Return for ‘The Deuce’ Season 2 After Sexual Misconduct Accusations

James Franco is headed back for season 2 of “The Deuce.” But according to Megan Abbott, a writer for the HBO series, it looks like his status on the show was never in doubt.
Abbott told Entertainment Tonight at the Writers Guild Awards on Sunday that Franco, who was accused of sexual misconduct following his Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy win at the Golden Globes last month, would “of course” return for the show’s second season.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort, Zendaya to Star in Crime Drama ‘Finest Kind’

Producing are Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment, and Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas of Imperative Entertainment. Gyllenhaal and his Nine Stories partner Riva Marker are also producing. 30WEST is financing the film.
STX Entertainment is handling international distribution on the new project which will be introduced to buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market. CAA and Endeavor Content is repping domestic rights.
